They met at dusk,
on land long dead—
where no grass grew,
and even the wind forgot its name.
Eldric Hartmere, the Stag of the North,
bore his warhammer like an oath carved in stone.
Antlers broken. Armor split.
He stood as the last tree in a forest set alight.
Vaeloryn Drakenbane, forged in fire,
came clad in blackened mail,
with sword and shield scorched by wars unspoken.
He walked like ash remembering the shape of flame.
They spoke no words.
Silence was older than vengeance.
The clash rang like thunder,
steel and bone and earth torn open.
The hammer fell like storms.
The sword struck like a curse remembered.
They fought as gods might dream of men—
one of frost and root,
one of ember and ruin.
And when it ended,
One knelt.
One rose.
But no songs followed.
No names were carved.
Only silence,
and the cold that never left.
