The elderly man looked at the two little ones in front of him, both of them eager to hear tales of heroics from his youth, and adventures of days long past. Yet recently, he had been hearing stories that put him on edge. Stories of something he’d long forgotten. Stories which he now felt compelled to share with the children hanging onto his every word.
“It was an eyeless beast with a huge maw emerging from its back, monstrous tongues lashing out and covering everything with a horrid ooze. As the beast closed in, the survivors usually felt an intense, insatiable hunger overcome them, sapping their energy and reducing them to a crawl. That’s when it strikes, with the precision of a hawk, and grabs the fallen travellers. The worst bit is not the sight of the beast coming towards you, however. It’s the snapping of bones as it twists the life out of you, and the crunching that follows not long after as it devours you whole”.
“Grandpa, how come nobody’s ever seen this thing?” one of the two young ones groaned, rubbing their eyes in boredom. “It’s just a story, right?” As the older man looked out his window and towards the forest, he could hear once again the screams and snaps that had echoed silently in the back of his mind for decades, waiting for the right time to haunt him once more. Nobody’s ever seen this thing. The words rang in his ears. For all our sakes, I hope nobody ever does again.
Unfortunately for mankind, the time for Gluttony to hide has come to an end. As a hulking monstrosity, Gluttony has never really been one to care about defending himself very much, and his natural defence of 4 is surprisingly low for a Lord. On the flip side, a Health value of 30 makes Gluttony the highest health unit in the game. Though he may become wounded easily, it’ll take an entire army to put this beast to rest!
Aura of Endless Hunger represents the first of Gluttony’s suite of powers, and the first move he’ll make towards consuming all of his foes. Non-Immune enemy characters adjacent to Gluttony cannot spend Move points. When Gluttony ambushes his foes, it becomes extremely difficult for them to get away without a fight. The only way for characters to move away from Gluttony is for them to Sidestep. Then, if they Sidestep and spend move points to run as far away as they can, he’ll have the opportunity to attack them as they flee. There’s no good way to escape from this monster’s grasp.
However, it’s not a great idea to hang around either, as when the beast is hungry, you can bet it’ll be a Gruesome Feast. At the cost of a whopping 3 Fate, Gluttony can, as a free action, perform a 3 Power, Deadly 1, Pierce 1 attack. He may then Recover X, where X is the amount of wounds dealt to the target. Gluttony loves easy, fresh meat, and is especially effective at devastating hordes of troops or other low defence characters. Finally, Predator allows Gluttony to have an extreme edge in any fight with foes who are nearing death. Whenever he attacks such a character, he can re-roll up to two of his attack dice after cancelling for Advantage/Disadvantage. This works not only with his basic attack, but also with Gruesome Feast, all but ensuring a terrible end for his foes.
