In his youth Betrogard was a naive warrior. He would enter battle and have little regard for his own life. Many warned him of his reckless ways but he would ignore them. During a battle with a mercenary group he encountered his first demon. It was not a monster as most people would describe them, but rather a beautiful female.
Entranced by her beauty he failed to see her dagger like tail plunge into his gut. He quickly dispatched her after feeling the burning pain and fell to the ground. he awaited death as he felt the pain expand to every inch of his being. But death never came.
Hours later Betrogard awoke and discovered that the pain was gone. Finding himself able to move he saw that the body of the demon had disappeared and all that remained was a small piece of the tail that remained in his back. As he went to remove it the tail plunged further into his skin and the wound closed.
Frightened by this turn of events he went to the nearest Church. The priest and Priestess were unable to find the wound or any evidence that he had been struck. As they used some healing magic on him he felt his skin erupt in pain.
The priest looked at him in fear as Betrogard looked at his own skin. He could see small bumps and divots that looked similar to the demon he killed.
He fled the church as they summoned the nearest soldiers.
He tried to escape but they trapped him. With no weapons he resigned himself once more and awaited death. He felt the first blade enter his body. Then the second. But that was all he felt. There was no pain. Opening his eyes he saw that his body had once again displayed the markings of the demon.
Over the next 5 years Betrogard would try time and time again to find death but it always avoided him. In time he would don full armor to cover his demonic markings. It was not until he was approached in a village by a young woman that he was finally able to understand what happened. “Does the curse hurt?” She asked in a sincere voice. Confused by her words he explained his story.
And it was here in this village with the future fate of the world that Betrogard learned that the demon that struck him was still alive. And he would continue to be bound to her until she was destroyed. Astounded by this revelation he removed his helmet. The guards quickly drew their blades as they observed the demonic man. But the girl only embraced him. The embrace burned from the holy energy that radiated from her, but it was the first time he had felt pain in so long. As the tears rolled down his face he was approached by a large man. The girl stood up and explained the situation to the man. Betrogard remained kneeled as he knew that men would only want to hurt him. But instead of blade a hand fell on his shoulder. He felt himself lifted up as he stood face to face with an armored behemoth. The man identified himself as a Claw of the Royal Tiger army Sirinius.
He allowed Betrogard to return with him and helped him join the army. But in the end it was Yakun who made the greatest impact. Due to this act of kindness Betrogard was able to demonstrate his strength in the field. His inability to feel pain allowed him to aid in battles that would have resulted in the loss of many.
Shortly after the demonic invasion began he was elevated to a Claw. The tail in his lower back began to pulse once Swader fell. He use it as a reminder that the demon he seeks is somewhere in this world.
